Ask Plyed How To…

You can ask the AI Chat about Plyed itself — “how do I publish this?”, “where are environment variables?”, “connect GitHub” — not just about your site.

Section titled “Get an answer with Show me and Do it for me”

The assistant answers from these guides, in a few numbered steps that use the names you see on screen. Under the answer you may see two buttons:

  • Show me switches to the right view, opens the panel or popover, and highlights the control. It never clicks anything. Click the control yourself, or press Esc or Got it to close the highlight.
  • Do it for me asks the assistant to do it. For anything that leaves your Mac or changes your live site — publishing, pushing, pulling — you then get an approval card that Plyed writes, and nothing happens until you click Approve.

The assistant does not move you around unasked. If you are editing on the Canvas while it answers, it offers the buttons instead of switching views.

Some things are always yours to click: signing out, plans and billing, removing a project, discarding changes, force-pushing, deleting an environment variable, your own AI keys and MCP secrets, and answering approval cards. The assistant explains them and can highlight the control, but it will not do them.

When the assistant changes something you can see while your preview is running, it opens the browser — it floats over the chat as a small live preview — goes to the page it changed and checks the result before it says it is done. You can click the floating preview to take over; press Esc to hand it back. It skips this for changes nothing on screen shows.

If, during a reply, the assistant read a web page, an MCP server’s answer, a page in the browser or an attached folder, it asks before it runs a command that executes code in your project (such as a build or tests), and before it changes project settings through the app. The card says what it read. This protects you from instructions hidden in that content.

Not from the desktop app. Ask the assistant and it will point you to your project’s page on the web dashboard; see Custom domains.
