Install & Sign In
Download
Section titled “Download”Grab the macOS app from the download page — you’ll need the access code you
were given with your invite. Plyed needs macOS 13 or later on Apple
Silicon (M-series Mac); it doesn’t run on Intel Macs. The download is a
.dmg: open it and drag Plyed into Applications.
Release builds are signed and notarized — open the app from Applications as usual. If macOS still warns (rare, or you’re on an older ad-hoc build), right-click the app → Open, then confirm once.
One-time setup for Git-powered features
Section titled “One-time setup for Git-powered features”A few features — AI undo checkpoints, Sync to Plyed, GitHub backup, and cloud agent runs — use Apple’s built-in git tool. The first time one of them runs on a fresh Mac, macOS may show its own dialog: “git” requires the command line developer tools. Click Install and wait for the one-time download (a few minutes, once per Mac) — after that, these features work normally and the dialog won’t come back. If you click Not Now instead, canvas editing, AI edits and publishing still work; only checkpoints, Sync, GitHub backup and cloud runs stay unavailable until you install the tools.
Section titled “Sign in”Click Sign in in the top bar (it’s also on the start screen).
Email code (always works)
Section titled “Email code (always works)”Plyed uses email codes — no password:
- Enter your email (plus your name if it’s your first time — pick Sign up).
- Enter the 6-digit code from your inbox.
This path works on every Mac and is required the first time you create an account.
Touch ID (returning users, macOS 15+)
Section titled “Touch ID (returning users, macOS 15+)”After you’ve added a passkey on this Mac, signing in is faster:
- Click Sign in — Touch ID appears automatically.
- Approve with Touch ID (or your Mac login password).
To set up Touch ID for Plyed:
- Sign in with your email code once.
- When prompted, choose Add passkey (or open Account → Passkeys → Add).
- Complete the system Touch ID sheet.
Next time, use Touch ID instead of waiting for an email code. If you cancel Touch ID, the email form is still there. Passkeys are stored on this Mac only — Plyed does not show a QR code or phone sign-in on desktop.
Signing in unlocks AI editing and publishing. You can create and edit projects without an account, but AI runs and publishing need one.
Stay up to date
Section titled “Stay up to date”Open Account (top bar). Near the bottom you’ll see your current version
(Up to date (vX.Y.Z)) next to a Check for updates button — click it
any time. If a newer version exists, that spot turns into a vX.Y.Z
available — download link that opens the download page in your browser
(you may need to enter your access code again). Download the new .dmg and
drag it into Applications to replace the old version — your projects,
sign-in, and settings stay as they are.
