Keyboard Shortcuts

These are Mac shortcuts (Plyed is a macOS app), and they work the same way in the canvas and in the live preview. A few change behaviour depending on which view or panel is open — that’s called out below.

Shortcut Action
⌘Z Undo
⌘⇧Z or ⌘Y Redo
⌘C Copy the selected element (canvas only — not while text is selected)
⌘X Cut the selected element
⌘V Paste
⌘G Wrap the selection in a <div>
⌘⇧G Unwrap the selection
Delete / Backspace Delete the selected element
Enter Save a focused text or value field
Esc Discard a focused field’s change
↑ / ↓ Nudge a focused numeric style value
Shortcut Action
⌘E Open quick insert — search for an element or component to add, or type shorthand like ul>li*3 (see Adding Elements). Esc closes it
/ Open quick insert while an element is selected on the canvas (not while typing)
⌘F Open quick find — jump to an element by name (Esc closes it). In the Chat view, this instead focuses the conversation search
⌘P Open the action palette — insert, find, duplicate, wrap, unwrap, create component, copy/cut/paste, select parent/child, delete — for the selected element
⌘K Open the full command palette (Esc closes it)
Shortcut Action
⌘1 Go to the Canvas view
⌘2 Switch to the Chat view (press again to return to the canvas)
⌘3 Show or hide the Code window (a separate window for editing project files)
⌘N Start a new chat
⌘S Toggle the left sidebar (Elements/Source) — or, in the Chat view, the conversation list
⌘D Toggle the right sidebar (Style/Inspector)
⌘⇧S Close the open left-rail panel (Add, Assets, Theme, Stylesheet, …)
⌘B Toggle the left-rail panel — close the open one (Add, Pages, Assets, Theme, …), or reopen the one you used last (Pages until you have opened one). In the Chat view, toggles the conversation list. Not while typing
Shortcut Action
1 2 3 4 Jump the canvas to Desktop / Tablet / Mobile landscape / Mobile (only while the canvas has focus, not while typing)
⌘-click a breakpoint button Compare that breakpoint side by side with the active one
↑ / ↓ Select the parent (up to Body) / first child of the selected element (not while a field has focus)
← / → Select the previous / next sibling
⇧G Toggle the layout grid overlay — or, when the Stylesheet panel is open, its grid overlay instead
Esc Close the open left-rail panel, or exit breakpoint comparison

These are set at the native macOS menu level (View menu), so they work even when a chat window or the code window has focus:

Shortcut Action
⌘= Increase app scale
⌘- Decrease app scale
⌘0 Reset app scale
