Work from Claude, Codex and Cursor

Claude, Codex, Cursor and your terminal can talk to Plyed. They can hand you work (a brief, some files, a site to rebuild), and, if you allow it, read and edit a project directly through Plyed.

Open Account → Connected apps. Each app has one row with its status and one button:

  • Connect adds Plyed to that app’s settings. Restart the app afterwards.
  • Reconnect appears when the app points at an older copy of Plyed, for example after you first ran Plyed from the downloaded disk image.
  • Remove takes Plyed out of that app’s settings again. Only Plyed’s own entry is removed, and a backup of the file is saved beside it.
  • Show setup appears if you edited Plyed’s entry yourself. Plyed leaves it alone and shows the snippet to copy instead.

The Terminal row installs the plyed command. If ~/.local/bin isn’t on your PATH, the row tells you and gives you the line to copy.

Two switches control everything:

  • Accept work from other apps: off means no app can reach Plyed at all.
  • Let them start chats when asked: off (the default) means work that arrives waits in a chat until you start it.

Ask the other app to send something to Plyed, for example:

Send this brief to my Plyed project “Park Avenue”.

It lands in a chat marked Sent from “Claude” · via Plyed tool. Nothing runs until you start it, unless you turned on the second switch. A request to create a new project always asks you first.

An app can’t read or change your projects until you allow it, one project at a time. The first time it tries, Plyed asks:

Claude wants to edit “Park Avenue”.

  • Allow edit: it can read and change files in that project.
  • Allow read only: it can read files, the house rules and your current canvas selection, but not change anything.
  • Decline: nothing is allowed. It can ask again later.

What an app does with edit access is recorded, so you can always undo it:

  • Its work happens in a chat of its own, named after the app, for example Claude (external). Each session shows the files it touched and its summary.

  • Restore to before this reply on that session puts every file back.

  • It never sees .env files or other secrets, can’t run commands in your project, and can’t reach other projects.

  • Publishing and syncing always ask you, every time:

Claude wants to publish “Park Avenue” live.

You can see and revoke what each app may do under Account → Connected apps → Project access. A revoke takes effect at once.

With the plyed command installed:

Terminal window
plyed projects # your projects
plyed send --project "Park Avenue" "Make the hero calmer"
plyed read src/pages/index.astro --project "Park Avenue"
plyed access edit --project "Park Avenue" # asks Plyed for edit access

Run plyed --help for every command. The terminal needs the same permission as any other app.
