Use your own AI keys
On a paid plan you can add your own Anthropic, OpenAI and xAI API keys. Claude, GPT and Grok requests then run on your provider account and use 0 Plyed credits.
Add a key
Section titled “Add a key”- Open Account (desktop or web) and find AI keys.
- Paste your Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI or xAI (Grok) key — any of them — and choose Add key.
- Plyed checks the key with the provider before saving it.
The model menu marks models that will use your key with your key. It’s decided per request, by the model you pick — models without the mark keep using Plyed credits.
Use the Use this key toggle to pause a key without deleting it, or Remove to delete it. To replace a key, paste a new one.
What still uses Plyed credits
Section titled “What still uses Plyed credits”- Voice dictation
- Cloud sandbox minutes
- Models from other providers (Kimi, Gemini and so on)
- The older Grok 4.1 Fast models and Grok 4.20 multi-agent — your xAI key runs Grok 4.7, Grok 4.6 and Grok Build 0.1
- GPT-6.1 Sol and the Codex models — they need an OpenAI API that Plyed doesn’t call with your key yet
If a key fails
Section titled “If a key fails”When your provider rejects a key (revoked or invalid) or the account is out of funds, the request stops with a clear message, and the key’s row in Account shows what happened and when.
Each key has an optional Fall back to Plyed credits if this key fails toggle, off by default. Turn it on and the request is retried on Plyed credits instead of stopping.
Plans and workspaces
Section titled “Plans and workspaces”- Paid plans only. If you downgrade, your keys are kept but paused: requests go back to Plyed credits and your plan’s limits until you upgrade. See Plans & Credits.
- Workspaces. Cloud agents in a workspace use the workspace billing owner’s keys and credits, not yours. Your own key is used for your desktop chats and for cloud agents you pay for.
Security
Section titled “Security”- Keys are encrypted at rest and checked with the provider when you add them.
- A key is never shown again — Account only displays the last 4 characters.
- Keys are never sent to your computer or to cloud sandboxes.
- Deleting your account deletes your keys.
- Prompt caching works with your key, so your provider bills cached reads at its discounted rate.
